Use clients’ luxe kitchens to give back this holiday

Renovation Angel, the luxury kitchen salvage company, which has raised some $2.2 million for charity, created over $17 million worth of jobs and diverted more than 29 million pounds from landfills, recently announced that it has awarded FOCUS North America with a $30,000 grant designed to assist with the nonprofit’s holiday meal program.

How can designers get involved? As Renovation Angel founder and president Steve Feldman shares, there are two ways: referrals and shopping. “Refer client projects to Renovation Angel’s luxury donation program. We have saved the clients of interior designers up to $80,000 on projects including luxury kitchen renovations, whole house renovations, mansion demolitions, furniture, home decor, artwork, and architectural elements.” Clients then receive a full tax deduction, free kitchen removal and transport; there are no disposal fees.

Designers can also shop Renovation Angel’s retail showroom, a 43,000-square-foot space that funds the organization’s mission that is replete with what Feldman calls “luxury bargains.” (View inventory online.)

The FOCUS program is designed to help homeless and poor Americans move “from dependency to self-sufficiency, by providing food, occupation, clothing, understanding and shelter.” Says Feldman, “One of the things I love most about FOCUS is that their services are provided without discrimination of any kind. Though they are faith based, they do not require any faith commitment from anyone they help.”

Six hundred families were fed this holiday season via the grant given to the Holiday Meal program. “Many people are shocked to discover that the average age of a homeless person in the United States is 9,” said Seraphim Danckaert, FOCUS North America’s executive director. “Can you imagine being a young child or parent without proper housing, nutritious food, or winter clothes? Thanks to the generosity of Renovation Angel, 600 families who have just transitioned out of homelessness received groceries, winter clothing, toys and household items. They don’t have to face the holidays alone. We’re so grateful for Renovation Angel’s leadership in making this outreach to New York City families possible, and look forward to doing more together in the future.”
