This season’s Maison + Objet fair in Paris, held over September 4 to 8, spotlighted a plethora of product launches. Below, EAL catches up with a number of designers who attended the show and share their top product picks and featured favorites.
Mariska Meijers Home: "One of our most exciting discoveries at M&O was Mariska Meijers,” says Designer Christian Lemke of Re-Vamp. She is “a talented Dutch artist who transforms her beautiful paintings into colorful collections of pillows, trays, wallpapers and fabrics. Vibrant accessories are the key to making a space come to life. Mariska Meijers does exactly that and will soon have a place inside the homes of our clients."
Design by Gaspard Yurkievich for BIOSERENITY: Designer-architect Philippe Maidenberg of Maidenberg Architecture, who delivered a keynote at M&O, "Re-enchanting Offices by Converting Them into Luxury Hotels," says that these pieces of "smart clothing," which are designed with biometric sensors that record physiological date, are "very clever."
Made in Ratio's “Alpha" chair by Brodie Neill: "I am a big fan of Brodie Neill’s limited-edition work, and am thrilled to see his streamlined aesthetic in this accessible line of furniture,” says Scott Maddux of Maddux Creative. “This chair has a delicacy of form that makes it useable in a variety of contexts and a graphic clarity that keeps it modern and edgy. And it is robust enough to use for a breakfast room table too!"
Sika Design's Fox Lounge Chair by Viggo Boesen: "I love the original version of this piece in wicker, and am excited to see an outdoor version launched this season,” says Maddux. “ I think the crisp white anodized aluminum with the contrasting woven plastic fiber keeps it feeling super fresh, a great update of the sculptural original. We need more pieces like this for outdoors; thank goodness there is a whole range!"
Memory Light by Boris Klimek for BROKIS: Maidenberg recommends the balloon-inspired lighting, and used it in the Joke Hotel, his latest project in Paris.
Valerie-Objects by Muller Van Severen: "This is simply a joyous collection of pieces, at once playful in color and material yet poetic in its simplicity. A real joy to live with,” says Maddux. “I am particularly excited by the lighting collection, which nods to vintage whilst being firmly in the now. Their color palette gets me every time!"
Durries by Lidell and Co: "I fell in love with these instantly,” says Lemke. “The color combinations are stimulating, and the large-scale graphic patterns are bold, yet the motifs are familiar; somehow [they seem like] interpretations of earlier Scandinavian, Berber or Turkish rugs, only scaled up and exaggerated to feel updated!”

Serip’s Pathleaf lighting fixture: "Hands down one of my favorite lighting companies in Europe is the Portuguese company Serip. The Pathleaf lighting is one of the most recent additions to the Serip family. It is not just a wall light,” says Antiques Diva’s Toma Clark Haines. “It becomes an art installation that stretches through walls and ceilings with countless shapes and metal colors. The indirect lighting hides the source of light and reveals just a portion of it to show the dramatic aspect of this installation, like a real natural painting.”
Eichholtz: "The Dutch company Eichholtz has long been a favorite furniture, lighting and accessories company of mine,” says Clarke Haines. “The brand's founder, Theo Eichholtz, traveled the world and was struck by the unique furniture he would encounter on his journeys, and he developed a passion for creating that same ambience back home.” Lemke concurs: "A classic brand that exudes luxury and style—a winning combination for many of our international clients. Its impressive footprint and artful displays made Eichholtz a definite highlight of this year’s Maison + Objet."
