Designer’s Guide to Paris: Maison&Objet and Deco Off

Once again it’s time for the interiors professionals to pack their bags and head to Paris for six days of events and product introductions. The programming ranges from cocktails with chenilles to dinner in the Louvre, and spans two concurrent shows, Paris Deco Off from Jan. 22 to 26 and Maison&Objet from Jan. 23 to 27.

Paris Deco Off, a fair for luxury textile houses now in its sixth run, welcomes designers and editors to nearly 75 showrooms across the city.

Here’s a sampling of what’s happening over the course of the week:

Thursday, Jan. 22

Pierre Frey will host designers and the media for a presentation of the 2015 collection presented by Design Director Patrick Frey at 9:30 a.m. (Yachts de Paris Ouest Port de Javel Haut, 15th arrondissement) RSVP for this event.

ARTE will host a press preview from 9:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., inviting media members to view the all-new LOVE collection. The collection can also be viewed in the showroom (at 6 Bis, Rue de l’Abbaye, 75006) throughout the week. This event is open to the public; no RSVP necessary.

De Le Cuona will also host a press preview at Galerie Nicolas Deman (at 12 Rue Jacques Callot, 75006) to show off the Rugged Elegance collection of textiles and accessories. Contact Andrew Joseph PR to schedule an appointment.

Roche Bobois will host an exclusive preview of its spring/summer collection by appointment only during Paris Deco Off. Appointments can be made for Thursday, Jan. 22 through Saturday, Jan. 24 from 12 to 6 p.m. (18 Rue de Lyon, 75012)

Designers taking a look at new product during Paris Deco Off 2014

Cowtan & Tout will begin hosting designers and media to view its 2015 Manuel Canovas collection. In addition to canapés served every day, the space will stay open late on Saturday evening (Jan. 24) for a cocktail party slated to run until 11 p.m. This event is open to the public; no RSVP necessary. Eric Valero, creative director for Nobilis, will be presenting the new 2015 collections to U.S. visitors at 4 p.m. at the showroom on 38 Rue Bonaparte. The special showing will be held in the design studio on the third floor. This event is open to the public; no RSVP necessary.

Caterina and Raffaele Fabrizio invite designers to discover the latest collections by Dedar and Hermès Home during a cocktail party from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. at Sparts Gallery, 41 Rue de Seine. RSVP for this event.

Tai Ping will host designers for a look at the new Edward Fields Carpet Makers collection (with cocktails!) from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. For a private viewing of the collection, located at 4-6 Rue de Montalembert, send an email.

The Louvre

Patrick Frey and the Pierre Frey team are set to host a private dinner for special guests at the recently renovated 17th- and 18th-century French decorative arts gallery at the Louvre museum. During the evening, architect and designer Jacques Garcia will give a presentation. The private event begins the company’s 80th anniversary festivities. By invitation only.

Jim Thompson will celebrate the launch of the “Forbidden Colours” collection with cocktails and canapés. This is a private event, by invitation only. Following the party, at 20 – 22 Passage Dauphine, the collection can be viewed in the showroom throughout the week.

Friday, Jan. 23

The Creations Metaphores Team invites designers and media members to the unveiling of its new 2015 collections, presented by Design Director Philippe Gonzalez. The presentation at 5 Rue de Furstenberg begins at 9:30 a.m. and a Parisian breakfast will follow. RSVP is required.

Gary Glant will host designers for the unveiling of the Glant 2015 collection at its showroom (Cleo C 30 Rue Jacob, 6th arrondissement) at 2 p.m. This event is open to the public; no RSVP necessary.

Silvio Denz, chairman and CEO of Lalique, and Maz Zouhairir, president and CEO of Lalique North America, invite guests to a cocktail party from 8 p.m. to midnight in the Paris showroom at Pavillon Etoile, 12 Rue de Presbourg. RSVP for this event.

Baccarat's CEO wil host a private (invitation only) cocktail event to unveil the 2015 collection from 6 to 9 p.m. In addition, designers and press are invited to make an appointment for a tour of Maison Baccarat during their trip to Paris.

Saturday, Jan. 24

For one evening only, all showrooms participating in Paris Deco Off will be open until 11 p.m. for designers to view new collections, network, grab cocktails and shop. In addition, shoppers will be able to view window designs and street lamps transformed by Parisian designers for the occasion. A free shuttle is available on both the Right and Left Banks to take designers back and forth between showrooms. This event is open to the public; no RSVP necessary.

Saturday is also the official Bloggers Day at Paris Deco Off, where international bloggers will be treated to special events and programming throughout the day. This event is open to bloggers and online media only. RSVP is required.

Dedar will host press for breakfast and a look at the latest collections from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Caterina and Raffaele Fabrizio will show the Dedar collections while Crans Baldwin will be available to show the Hermès Home fabrics and wallpapers carried in the showroom. It's all at Sparts Gallery, 41 Rue de Seine. RSVP for this evenet.

Michael Berman will host an open house from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. for a look at new collections during Maison&Objet. To book a private appointment, send an email before heading to Hall 4, Booth E124.

Fromental will host a champagne open house at its booth at Maison&Objet from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. (Hall 7 – Booth B86) This event, Hall 7 – Booth B86, is open to the public; no RSVP necessary.

JAB Anstoetz invites designers to the showroom from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. for an evening of cocktails and a look at the latest collections. This event is open to the public; no RSVP necessary.

Holland & Sherry will host a party to launch its new coterie of wool chenilles, wool sheers, outdoor fabric, rugs, lighting, hair-on-hide offerings and brand new Wool Sourcebook. The party begins at 8 p.m. and drinks will be served. In addition, Fortuny’s latest collections will be on display at the Holland & Sherry showroom. This event, at 17 Rue de L’echaude, is open to the public; no RSVP necessary.

Designers are invited to Rubelli for cocktails until 11 p.m. and an unveiling of the “Substance and Extravagance” 2015 collection of fabrics at 11-13 Rue de l’Abbaye. This event is open to the public; no RSVP necessary.

Osborne & Little will host a cocktail party with champagne and canapés until 11 p.m. Designers will have the chance to view the new Spring 2015 collection at 7 Rue de Furstenberg. First-annual champagne breakfast at the Paris Flea Market

Sunday, Jan. 25

Toma Clark Haines, founder of The Antiques Diva, will host her second-annual breakfast and antiques discussion at the Paris Flea Market. This year, she welcomes interior designer Timothy Corrigan and Editor in Chief of ELLE DÉCOR Michael Boodro for the discussion. The champagne breakfast and discussion will take place from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Annex to La Petite Maison at 14 Rue Paul Bert. RSVP is required.

Friday, Jan. 23 – Tuesday, Jan. 27—Maison&Objet

About 30 minutes outside of Paris, at the Parc des Expositions de Villepinte Nord, is the international home fashions show Maison&Objet. Read on for a look at what you can expect from the trade show.

This year, Design Leadership Network (DLN) has teamed up with Maison&Objet to provide special benefits to members visiting the show. Some of those benefits include access to a private lounge, a personal tour guide, access to the club restaurant, coat and baggage storage, and special access to exhibitions. Members of the DLN attending the show should send an email for additional information.

In its effort to support the younger generation of designers, Maison&Objet chose two students from the Ecole de design Nantes Atlantique to exhibit at the show. Interested in checking it out? Head to the Business Lounge in Hall 5B.

In addition, Lalique will debutits spring/summer 2015 collections—including its all-new collaboration with Damien Hirst. To make an appointment, send an email.

For the very first time, Arteriors will be showing its lighting, furniture and decorative accessories at Maison&Objet, at Hall 4, Stand B33. RSVP to make an appointment.

In addition, interior designer Martyn Lawrence Bullard will be at the Limoges booth to unveil his new collaboration with the company. Guests can view the collection all week at Hall 7, Booth C1. A cocktail reception will be held on Friday, Jan. 23 at 12 p.m. No RSVP necessary.

Maison&Objet is open to the trade only. Show hours are Friday, Jan. 23 through Monday, Jan. 26, from 9:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. and on Tuesday, Jan. 27, from 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Paris Deco Off is open to the public.
