Meet South Florida’s newest stars of design

Florida is home to many of the design industry’s most celebrated creative minds, and each year the Design Center of the America’s (DCOTA) recognizes distinguished professionals across all disciplines of art and design with the Stars of Design and Stars on the Rise awards.

The winners will be named at the upcoming Winter Market event, taking place February 5 and 6. The 2014 winners are as follows:

Lifetime Achievement: Nancy Ellison

Interior Design: Alene Workman

Architecture: Robert Swedroe

Landscape and Architecture Design: Debra Yates

Product Design: Douglas Hutton

Art: Typoe

Photography: Stain Roenning

Graphic Design: Jason Walker

The Stars on the Rise category originated in 2012 and honors a small group of architects and/or designers who represent the new guard of design—individuals who have come into their own and contributed new ideas and sensibilities to the Florida design community and beyond.

The 2014 Stars on the Rise winners are as follows:

Wade Hallock

Deborah Houston

Jenny Zalkin

On the evening of Wednesday, February 5, after a full day of Winter Market events, DCOTA will shine the spotlight on the honorees as part of an awards ceremony and champagne toast beginning at 6:00 p.m.
