October Showhouse roundup: Napa Valley + St. Louis

This month, two showhouses are opening in cities that are more attenuated on the 'design radar': Napa Valley and St. Louis. But that doesn't make them any less interesting or worthy of a visit.

Traditional Home pulled together a dozen California designers to create the first Napa Valley Showhouse at the Cardinale Winery Estate, open now through Sunday, November 11. Visitors to the house will be supporting the Napa Valley Film Festival, which runs simultaneously (Nov. 7-11), and which Traditional Home is also sponsoring.

The Napa Valley Showhouse designers include:

Kathy Geissler Best, KGB Design, San Francisco, CA

Annie Bowman, Lorrie Merck and Angle Dunkelberger, Sunrise Home, San Rafael, CA

Cathleen Gouveia, Cathleen Gouveia Design, Belvedere-Tiburon, CA

Melanie Coddingdon, Coddington Design, San Francisco, CA

Joe Lucas + Parrish Chilcoat, Lucas Studio, West Hollywood, CA

Barbara Colvin, Barbara Colvin + Co, Napa, CA

Elizabeth Cameron + Kathleen Pfaff, West End Napa, Napa, CA

Melanie Turner, Melanie Turner Interiors, Atlanta, GA

Matt O'Dorisio, Matt O’Dorisio Interior Design and Decoration, Los Angeles, CA

Strata Landscape Architecture, San Francisco, CA

“Traditional Home is thrilled to announce its first-ever Showhouse in Napa,” says Editor-in-Chief Ann Maine. “This amazing project will showcase a talented group of new designers and benefit a great organization, the Napa Valley Film Festival, which also showcases the next generation of stars and leading young filmmakers.”

Starting Friday, October 5, Showhouse hours will be Tuesday – Sunday, 10:30 – 5 pm. Admission to the Showhouse is $25 when booked in advance and $30 at the door. The house is located at Cardinale, 7600 St. Helena Hwy, Oakville, CA.

For each admission, guests will participate in a timed ticketed self-guided tour and will receive a Showhouse journal and a complimentary tasting of the new Cardinale Intrada Sauvignon Blanc. For $50, guests will be treated to the tour, journal and a private tasting experience. Tickets to the opening gala are $150 each. To follow the conversation on Twitter, go to #NVSH2012.

Meanwhile in the middle of the country, 18 top St. Louis designers have come together to create the William Bernoudy Designer Showhouse to benefit local charities.

The house, designed by Bernoudy in 1960, is situated on 18 acres in Town & Country, Missouri and is a true testament to the modern architecture of its time.

Bernoudy, a widely admired St. Louis architect, custom built the house for the Horan Family of St. Louis, and now it’s home to the designer showhouse sponsored by Ladue News.
