Albert Hadley, one of the Grand Masters of design, died today in his home state of Tennessee. It was rumoured he was not well when he closed his namesake business and moved back to Tennessee this past year.

Mr. Hadley attended Peabody College in Nashville and Parsons School of Design before training under the decorator A. Herbert Rodgers. He worked at the distinguished New York design firm of McMillen, Inc. and co-founded Parish-Hadley, Associates in 1962, where he worked until it closed in 1999. Hadley opened his business under his own name, which closed only this past year.

Mr. Hadley's clients included former Vice President Albert Gore, Diane Sawyer, Babe Paley, Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, and the Astor and Getty families.
