Alexa Hampton to receive C&G Innovation in Design Award

Connecticut Cottages & Gardens will honor designer Alexa Hampton as the 2012 Innovator Award recipient at the 6th annual Innovation in Design Awards.

The judges included Anthony Baratta, Stephen Elrod, Adam Hopfner, Frances Palmer, Ashley Stark and Matthew Patrick Smyth.

Under Alexa Hampton’s direction, the world famous firm Mark Hampton LLC has completed a wide range of designs for domestic and international projects, from New York City to Hangzhou, China, including apartments and large residences, private airplanes and yachts.

Having first introduced a line of woven fabrics for Kravet, under the label “Alexa Hampton for the Mark Hampton Signature Collection,” a more comprehensive line of fabrics, “Alexa Hampton Designs,” was launched in 2004, with new introductions in 2006 and 2010. Her collection of trims for Kravet Fabrics launched in 2005 and her own furniture line, “The Alexa Hampton Collection,” was launched by Hickory Chair Co. in 2005.

In 2007, “Alexa Hampton Carpet Collection” for Stark Carpet was introduced as was “Alexa Hampton Lighting Collection” for Visual Comfort & Co. In 2011, Alexa debuted three new collections: Fireplaces for Chesney’s, new fabrics and trim for Kravet and furniture for Hickory Chair’s centennial.

Alexa is also the author of the book The Language of Interior Design, as well as a contributing columnist for The Wall Street Journal’s Saturday “Off Duty” section.
