This year marks the launch of Wanted Design nyc, a three-day series of events for designers, architects, interior designers, craftmen, editors, manufacturers, curators and communication specialists. Sponsored by Dwell magazine, the event brings together industry leaders to showcase, discuss and share innovative design, new projects and collaborations May 13-16.

Event highlights include a Kick Off party, co-hosted by Joe Doucet Studios; a series of conversations to share, question and discuss design topics with the main actors of the design and architecture scene; all day, live workshops with craftsmen and designers working together; a Color Trends presentation with Mix Magazine London; ExpoTential design project featuring 10 design labs linked to the city of NY with Laetitia Wolff of futureflair; a Dwell Conversation sponsored by Architizer and BMW; and a closing party co-hosted by Ligne Roset and Whitewall magazine.

"Synergies between Architecture and Furniture" is a discussion on how designers approach architecture and what brings architects to furniture design, the role of materials and industrial process innovations, the manufacturers, the place of limited edition pieces. With Jacques Ferrier, Agence J.Ferrier; Dominique Gonfard, Lerival; Matilda McQuaid, Cooper Hewitt National design Museum; Dror Benshetrit, Dror Studio; Winka Dubbeldam, Archi-tectonics NYC; and Marc Thorpe, Third Eye studios.

"The new generation of designers" will discuss: How has design education changed? What is the relationship between young designers and manufacturers? The place of new furniture labels in the marketplace, the transition from designer to entrepreneur. Panelists include Rama Chorpash, Parsons School of Design; Antoine Roset, Ligne Roset USA; François Brument, Todd Bracher; and Brad Ascalon, Philippe Nigro.

"Cultural impact on design" will explore: What is the role and the place of design in each country? Why is it so integrated in some cultures? How does it influence experimentation, research, perception? How does it cross art or other fields as sciences? Panelists include Jaime Odabachian, David Trubridge, Matali Crasset, Frederick McSwain, and Giulio Cappellini.

Live workshops will explore how designers today can revisit in a contemporary way traditional savoir faire and materials. The event will feature fine craftsmen working with metal, wood, engravement, or gilding, collaborating with designers to create a one of a kind piece—to be revealed on Monday night at the end of the event. Coordination by Julien Legeard (Excellence Group), with the participation of Les Metalliers Champenois (LMC), Ateliers Gohard, Viollet, EDM, JeanJoseph and designers Marc Thorpe and Brooks Atwood.
