Collective Design moves to March, but keeps a toehold in May

This year, the Collective Design fair will be hosted over March 9 to 11, instead of in conjunction with NYCxDesign. However, Collective Design will be launching the capsule presentation Collective Concept @ ICFF, over May 20 to 23, in order to continue highlighting contemporary design during NYCxDesign. The special exhibit gives contemporary designers, galleries and makers the opportunity to still be recognized and discovered when the design world convenes on New York City for a week during May.

“This special feature is positioned at the front of the Fair and is an ideal segue between the main ICFF exhibition and ICFF Gallery, a new area of the event that features art and art objects,” says Kevin O’Keefe, show director at ICFF.

Allied Maker, Jeff Martin Joinery, Fort Standard, RUX Stickbulb, and Crosby Studios are among the Collective exhibitors who have been confirmed to participate in the exhibition during ICFF. Annually, ICFF attracts over 36,000 attendees to the Jacob K. Javits Center to explore over 800 international furniture exhibitors, and it is one of NYCxDesign’s anchor shows. Over the past three years the show has doubled in size.

“We take great pride in introducing our curated selection of talented designers to such a large and international audience of design leaders,” says Steven Learner, founder of Collective Design.

Collective Design debuted the Collective Concept showcase during the fair in 2016. Exhibitors are asked to showcase something “inspirational” or “alternative,” whether that be a new product or technology, or an unusual pairing of design talents or material. There will also be a Collective Concept during the fair in March with exhibits from Azadeh Shladovsky Studio, Billy Cotton, Christopher Boots, Peter Lane and Coil + Drift, among others.

Registration is open online for both Collective Design and ICFF.
